Arnold Leslie Freedman
Senior Partner
Les is a distinguished legal professional who obtained his B Proc Degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1977 and a Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1982. He enhanced his expertise with a Higher Diploma in Labour Law from the University of Johannesburg in 1999. Since joining the practice at its inception in 1984, Les has specialized in Property Law, Estate Planning, Administration of Estates, and General Litigation, bringing decades of experience and dedication to his clients.
Alicia Stieger
Director
Alicia brings a robust, multi-disciplinary approach to the legal team. Uniquely qualified as an Attorney, Notary, and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa, she offers comprehensive solutions across litigation, property transactions, and specialized legal drafting.
Following her foundational legal studies at the University of Pretoria and UNISA, she has consistently built upon her expertise, most recently securing High Court Right of Appearance and completing the statutory Practice Management Certificate under the Legal Practice Act.

Mavornene Janse van Rensburg
Financial Administrator & Office Manager
Mavornene joined Levine and Freedman in February 2004, bringing over two decades of dedicated service and invaluable operational expertise to the firm. She oversees all aspects of the firm's financial administration, comprehensively managing bookkeeping, corporate finances, and payroll.
Beyond her core financial responsibilities, Mavornene coordinates vital office administrative functions, manages staff operational matters, handles front-of-house communications, and provides trusted support for Mr. Freedman’s personal financial portfolio. Her long-standing dedication ensures the firm's daily operations run seamlessly.
Tersia van Wyk
Conveyancing and Legal Assistant
Tersia joined Levine and Freedman in January 2021. She is mainly assisting in our Conveyancing Department. She has a vast knowledge in all aspects of Conveyancing but can also assist with any other legal work that may need attention.
Leah Mashinini
Office Filing Clerk
Leah has been an integral cornerstone of Levine and Freedman since its inception in 1984. With over four decades of dedicated service, she plays a vital role in keeping the firm’s daily operations running efficiently. As the Office Filing Clerk, Leah manages the critical organisation of firm records, overseeing both active filing and long-term archiving systems.
Jomo Mthetwa
Legal Messenger
Jomo joined Levine and Freedman in 2008 and has since been an invaluable asset to the firm’s daily operations. Serving as our Legal Messenger, he brings specialised knowledge of statutory procedures and court logistics. He is responsible for navigating the Johannesburg High and Magistrate’s Courts, where he handles the critical filing and issuing of court documents, secures court dates, and resolves general queries.
His extensive duties also include attending the Master’s Offices in both Johannesburg and Pretoria to facilitate the administration and winding up of deceased estates. Additionally, Jomo manages time-sensitive deliveries, client collections, and regular lodgements at the Johannesburg and Pretoria Deeds Offices, ensuring the firm’s paperwork is executed seamlessly and efficiently.
